Ultrasonic Dental Scaning

What is it?

Dental procedures are recommended for any animals showing dental disease or oral discomfort.
Pets are put under general anesthesia during this procedure, where all teeth are cleaned and polished. If we suspect that your pet may need a tooth removed, at the time of the procedure, we will be able to confirm if the tooth is healthy,  or if it in fact does require to be extracted.

In cats, specifically, extractions may be needed in several cases, including advanced stage gum disease.

Advanced periodontal disease can cause loss of viable teeth. Any tooth that is severely affected should be extracted before any damage becomes permanent.

Some Causes Of Dental Disease and Discomfort Include:

        • Plaque build-up
        • Gingivitis
        • Periodontal disease
        • Tooth loss
        • Mouth sores and ulcers
        • Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions (FORL)
        • Retained baby teeth
        • Root/tooth abscesses

The cost of tooth extractions are based on the type of procedure performed. It is best to always take preventative measures to avoid dental surgeries and tooth extraction procedures.
